Feminine glamor and the return of European haute couture in the 1950s, has truly inspired the new AW14 collection. Merging femininity and practicality, each piece brings iconic silhouettes to the forefront, but with a modern aesthetic. The “New Look” of the 1950s encouraged women to embrace their figures, and this collection has emphasised this through the use of skirts, fitted shapes and peplums, with a strong vintage influence. Hema’s personal signature is prevalent throughout, with the playful use of lace. Silk taffeta, french tulle, Indian embellishments, velvet, and intricate leather detailing bring an exciting, exotic and enchanting vision this season. Androgyny is also prevalent within the collection, in the form of jumpsuits, but without compromising femininity, each garment is constructed to high light the female form.
